What is 'School Games'?

What is the 'School Games?'

"The School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport. Our vision is that by 2020 the School Games will be continuing to make a clear and meaningful difference to the lives of even more children and young people."                                                                                      www.yourschoolgames.com

What is the 'School Games Mark?'

"The School Games Mark is a Government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community." www.yourschoolgames.com

School Games Values

The School Games Values are integral for young people to understand the importance of all areas of sport, not just the competitive side.  We have decided as a school to make these values an important part of our whole curriculum. They're in every classroom and children are awarded certificates and house points when they show they have been determined, passionate, a good team member, have self-belief, honest and have been respectful in any subject or part of the day at Burradon Community Primary.

What is Burradon Community Primary doing as part of this initiative?

Each year since 2012, we have taken part in competitions within school and out of school in a range of sports and each year, we are becoming more confident, competitive and competent in many sporting events.

Each year, we strive to meet increasingly challenging requirements in order to apply for the School games Mark and have been extremely proud to be awarded PLATINUM  for the past three academic years!
